Mentoring Guidelines

Introduction

Mentorship is a core pillar of 100 Black Men of Austin’s mission. Our mentors help shape the future of young Black men through leadership, consistency, and compassion. To ensure safety, quality, and impact, we maintain high standards for all mentors.

Requirements for All Mentors

  1. Rigorous Training: All mentors must complete a comprehensive third-party mentorship training program that equips them with the skills, tools, and ethical foundation to effectively guide youth.

  2. Background Check: Every mentor must successfully pass a thorough criminal background check to ensure the safety and well-being of our mentees.

  3. Community Commitment: Mentors are required to complete a minimum number of hours annually in direct community service and/or mentoring activities to remain active and in good standing.
